Welcome to the Collaborative Peer Supervision (CPS) Group section of the Web site. While our three-year Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Training Program Grant involving IL, IN, MI, and OH ended June 2007, we remain committed to helping others efficiently form, sustain and evaluate CPS groups throughout the United States. The purpose of a CPS group is to improve the clinician's ability to assess, treat or appropriately refer infants and young children with developmental variations, problems, and disorders of mental health. CPS groups provide Continuing Education (CE) credit and typically consist of 8 to 12 members that meet monthly for one to two hours for case-based discussion and ongoing professional development. Membership is multidisciplinary and may include child psychiatrists, child psychologists, infant mental health specialists, nurses, Part C service coordinators, primary care physicians, social workers and others.

It is an understatement to say that working with infants/young children and their families is challenging. Providing CE credit across disciplines and state boundaries is even more daunting. I will do my best to ensure that the 2007-2008 transitional year goes smoothly as existing CPS groups continue to mature and new groups are formed.
